Tim Carmon and PJ Morgan on B3/B4

We had the most amazing day yesterday taping a new title for HowAudio.com. The tutorial is two-fold: first, PJ Morgan gives us a history and in-depth look at the mysterious B3 draw-bars and how to use them; secondly, Tim Carmon runs us through the Native Instrument B4 software which reproduces the sound of the legendary B3 and its rotary speaker cabinet with unmatched accuracy.

The two gentlemen are, bar-none, the sickest players I have ever heard. No wonder why they are sought after by such artists as Eric Clapton, Babyface, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Queen Latifah, Marcus Miller, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, Gladys Knight, B.B. King, Jamie Foxx, Earth Wind and Fire, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Michael McDonald, Mary J. Blige, David Sanborn, Shirley Ceaser, Yolanda Adams, Eric Benet, Mary Mary, CeCe Winans, Nancy Wilson, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Hezekiah Walker, Al Green and many, many more.

I wanted to make you all aware that PJ has a Master Class teaching video series if you're serious about your playing. Check it out at ShowMeThat.com.

Look for this title to be available, certainly before NAMM, but hopefully earlier.

Remix Aftermath

If you missed Remix hotel you really missed out. There was so much incredible talent as well as direct access to product specialists, which you would have to pay a lot of money for in the "real world". Don't miss it next year is the lesson to be learned.

We made some great contacts which will and has generated some future titles. We just finished and will soon post, a title on Propellerhead ReCycle featuring Icon Collective's David Alexander. A tremendous talent as well as an potent teacher. I think you all will enjoy this 1.5 hour tutorial.

We are also working creating a title on the subject of surround-sound with the preeminent and somewhat infamous Chris Fichera from Blue Sky. If you haven't checked out their speakers yet, you should. They will blow your mind.

I think I learned more about the DJ/HipHop/Turntablist world in one conversation than I could ever have learned from months of reading thanks to Jesse Gay aka CNS Engineering. We are looking forward to doing a number of titles with this young talent.

Finally, we are hoping to strike up some titles with the power duo of Dave Hampton and Lisa Chamblee-Hampton.

Have a great Thanksgiving you all.

First Day at Remix - with Sinbad?

Standing next to our table, minding my own business, I hear the voice behind me, "Hey man, I love this website, checked it out last night." I turned around, looked UP, it was Sinbad. "You saw our site," I asked. "Yes I did", he said, grabbed some of our fliers and started to pass them out while saying, "you guys have to check these guys out." Needless to say I started busting out laughing.

We meet some tremendous people today. Again, if you're in the area you have to stop by. Tell Jennifer that HowAudio sent you.

Signal Flow with Roger Cole

Yesterday the HA! team spent the day with Sound Engineer/Composer/Producer Roger Cole. Many of you may know Roger from the band Little Feet, not as a band member but as a producer. Over the past two plus decades Roger has been on the road making sure other artists didn't have to worry about their 'sound'. The point of our time with Roger yesterday was to tape a new title entitled SIGNAL FLOW. If you working with sound, live or studio, you're a lot more efficient and effective if you understand signal flow and nobody know that better than Roger Cole.

Look for Roger in other upcoming titles including: Running Live Sound and Sibelius, in addition to a new video series coming soon the HowAudio.com - Tips From The Pros.

What's new this week Oct. 26th

Sorry, I need to get better at updating. I have a great reason though, if it really matters. We've been busy creating new titles for HowAudio.com.

Yesterday we filmed a title on the Line 6 Low Down Bass Amp with Jonathan Ahrens. Look for that one in the next couple of weeks at the latest.

It looks like we are finally going to post the Line 6 Spider III and Spider Valve tutorials.

New titles added this week are the "Preparing for Mastering" with Grammy Nominated Mastering Engineer Ron McMaster (Capitol Mastering). He did a great job explaining the nitty-gritty of the too-often-overlooked as aspect to remember for mastering your projects. Also added is the Antares Auto-Tune title with Jeff Dykhouse.

Teddy Campbell just finished up another Drum Tuning title for us. Why another drum tuning title you ask. Well, there were some things that we felt we left out from the first one, based on your feedback. So, we got the incredible Teddy Campbell to show us the ropes.

Carmen Rizzo also has a couple of more titles that are currently in editing. Look for those in the coming weeks.

Within a week you should see a title on Podcasting, The POK, EQ basics followed by a What's New in Reason 4.

Stay tuned for more giveaways. Next week we will announce all the winners from our How To Relic A Guitar giveaway. Over the next year we will be giving away NI Software, Audix Mics, M-Audio gear, Behringer gear as well as a custom built pedal board designed and built by Phil O'Keefe.

Pro Tools LE 7.0 DVD Is Among Hottest Titles Offered By Howaudio.com
Exhaustive ‘How-To’ DVD Elicits Raves From Savvy Pro Tools Users

Orange, California (September 9, 2007)—HowAudio.com’s exhaustive Pro Tools LE 7.0 ‘how-to’ title is among hottest DVDs offered by the on-demand music training website. Plus, you’ll get an inside view of an actual live session being tracked using Pro Tools, with a window-in-window picture of both the studio and the on-screen Pro Tools session.

“Pro Tools LE 7.0” has elicited raves from top recording pros. “Howaudio.com’s Pro Tools DVD is exactly what I have been looking for: solid, quick info on things you need and want to know,” says Carmen Rizzo, producer/remixer/recording artist.

“I’ve been working with Pro Tools since before it was Pro Tools,” says producer/mixer/ engineer/composer Rich Tozzoli, who has mixed 5.1 surround projects for artists ranging from Blue Oyster Cult to David Bowie, recorded guitarists from Al DiMeola to Ace Frehley, and whose music can been heard on the Discovery Channel, VH1, Nickelodeon and The History Channel. “With Howaudio’s Pro Tools LE 7.0 DVD, I was able to pick up a bunch of cool tips. From beginners to experienced pros, this disc has something for everyone."

DVD author Jeff Dykhouse agrees. “I've been using Pro Tools professionally since it was called Sound Designer II in about 1989, and in those years, I've picked up a few tricks along the way. It pains me to watch people spend a lot of time trying to accomplish tasks in Pro Tools instead of making music. I invite you to pull up a chair and go through virtually every ProTools LE feature with me. Each technique is demonstrated as if you were sitting in the chair next to me staring at my monitor.”
